ABOUT 7DX

We build immersive systems that help people learn, decide and act.

7DX is an Australian Future Systems Studio. We turn complex scenarios, evidence and ideas into simulations, interactive products and engagement experiences people can use.

Virtual reality, augmented reality, AI, virtual humans, game design and the web are part of our toolkit. The work begins earlier: with the situation to understand, the behaviour to practise or the decision to make.

DESIGNED FROM THE REAL WORLD BACKWARDS

The first question is not which technology to use. It is what needs to happen in the real world.

We learn the environment, the audience, the constraints and the subject matter. Then we choose the right form for the job. That may become an immersive simulation, an augmented-reality tool, an interactive application or a connected learning experience.

The aim is simple: make something important possible to understand, practise, test or use.

WHAT 7DX BUILDS

Simulation and decision rehearsal

Some situations are unsafe, expensive, rare or impractical to reproduce. Simulation gives people a place to practise procedures, recognise hazards and work through decisions without recreating the real-world conditions.

Interactive products and spatial experiences

We build applications and experiences that make products, places and information explorable. People can inspect, navigate, choose and respond instead of only watching.

Learning and engagement systems

We combine scenario design, gamification, virtual humans and interactive content when the challenge depends on attention, understanding or participation.

Interaction insights

Where the project calls for it, user interactions can be captured and connected to web-based dashboards. This can help teams review progress and understand how people move through an experience.

WORK GROUNDED IN REAL SITUATIONS

Public projects featured by 7DX include trackside-maintenance and high-voltage substation simulations for Transport for NSW, maternity-care simulation with Northern Sydney Local Health District, and an augmented-reality stadium experience for Sydney FC.

The settings and audiences differ. The practical test does not: make something important easier to understand, practise or explore.

BUILT FOR USE

A demonstration is only the beginning.

7DX considers what happens after launch: where the system will be used, how people will access it, what support it requires and how it may need to evolve. Scope varies by project, but the production is designed around the operating context rather than the novelty of the technology.

That is how a promising idea becomes a working experience.

JULIAN WARD

Founder and CEO

Julian Ward founded 7DX after building a career across technology, digital media, data and communications. He previously founded and grew We Are Social Australia and held agency roles in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

His foundation studies in psychology inform 7DX’s continuing interest in how people respond to technology, not simply what a technology can display.

He created 7DX to explore what becomes possible when interactive technology, behavioural thinking and production come together around a real-world problem.

BRING US THE DIFFICULT PART

The procedure people cannot safely rehearse. The environment they cannot easily reach. The idea that refuses to fit on a slide.

Let’s make it something people can experience.
